2007-2008 Student Council Members
I. Goals A. To promote good school relationships
between individual students, students and faculty, and school and
community. B. To promote and maintain good school spirit. C. To
promote and assist in school activities. D. To uphold school
traditions. E. To provide a training ground for developing leadership.
II. Organizations A. Every student wishing to run for
homeroom representative must speak to the class explaining why they
wish to serve them. B. Every homeroom will elect two students by
secret ballot (grades 5-8). The fifth grade representatives will be
the elementary liaisons
III. Officers A. The Student Council will have the
following officers: President, Vice-President Secretary, and
Treasurer. This forms the Executive Board. Student Council officers
will be elected by secret ballot conducted in every grade.
IV. Duties and responsibilities of Council Members A.
Representatives shall: 1. Attend all Student Council meetings. 2.
Attend and participate in all meetings of committees of which they are
members. 3. Give Student Council reports to their homeroom class after
each meeting. 4. Bring to the council the suggestions and complaints
of their homerooms.B. The President shall: 1. Preside over student
council meetings. 2. Appoint committees. 3. Cast the deciding vote
when the council is equally divided. 4. Be the leading member of the
Executive Board. C. The Vice-President shall: 1. Perform the duties of
the president during his/ her absence. 2. Maintain a roll call. 3.
Serve as a member of the Executive board. D. The Secretary shall: 1.
Take minutes of all council meetings. 2. Keep a written record of al
council proceedings. 3. Furnish information to the school principal.
4. Write correspondence for the council. 5. Serve as a member of the
Executive Board. E. The Treasurer shall: 1. Work with the advisor to
maintain the records of the council. 2. Serve as a member of the
Executive board. F. The Executive board shall: 1. Work with the
advisor to create the agenda for all the meetings. 2. Serve as the
voice of the council when the council is not in session.
